Outpost

This is the third of three pieces created for the Willamette Valley Lavender Festival.  This piece took 3 passes on-site at Mountainside Lavender Farm located in the hills above Newberg, OR.. I'm still loving rural subjects that evoke memories of my grandparents livelihood and my father's world.  Whenever I see a barn structure, I secretly ask myself what memories developed here?   Who live and worked here?  What was their farm-life like? Was it a simple life How much was a struggle if there were trying times?  Did they feel fortunate?

This piece is created on a cradled panel with varnished, exposed wood sides giving it a simple, current appearance.
