Purple Penumbra

This piece was plein air painted at Wayward Winds Lavender Farm, in the vineyard hills of Newberg, OR.

There are times when sleep doesn't matter when a particular scene is in mind, and this scene required I wake up at 4:30 am for two consecutive days. I had to arrive in time to set my gear up to witness and capture the rising sunlight as it dusted the tops of the lavender.  As the sunlight raised, the shadows changed quickly. Once I was able to get a visual gestured onto the panel, the rest was by memory.  I ended each day by 1:00pm and quickly returned home for a nap...ahhhhh
